The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lebanon (the “Ministry”) is committed to protecting personal data processed through its official digital platforms, portals, and electronic services.
This policy describes how information is collected, used, retained, disclosed, and protected, taking into account Lebanese Law No. 81 of 10 October 2018 on Electronic Transactions and Personal Data and other applicable laws. Use of a public service does not, by itself, constitute consent to processing.

Essential cookies or session identifiers may be used for authentication, navigation, service continuity and security.
3. Purposes and Legal Grounds
We process information as necessary to carry out official public functions and comply with applicable legal obligations, including administering tax and financial services, processing submissions and payments, responding to inquiries, maintaining records, preventing fraud and protecting our systems.
The applicable legal grounds and requirements depend on the particular service and processing activity.
4. Data Security
The Ministry uses administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to its systems and the information processed. Depending on the service, these may include access restrictions, encrypted connections, logging, backups and security maintenance. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure.
5. Data Sharing and Confidentiality
The Ministry does not sell or rent personal data to commercial entities. Information may be shared with competent public authorities where legally authorized or required, and with contracted technical providers where necessary for service delivery, subject to applicable confidentiality and legal safeguards.
For electronic payments, necessary transaction information may be exchanged with authorized payment service providers and financial institutions.
6. Electronic Payments
Electronic payment services may involve processing payment amounts, references, statuses and reconciliation records. Payment card details may be entered directly into interfaces operated by authorized payment providers. The handling of card information depends on the payment service used.
7. Data Retention
Information is retained for the periods required by the applicable tax, financial, administrative, audit and public archiving rules. When no longer required, records are handled under applicable deletion, anonymization or archiving procedures.
8. Individual Rights
Subject to applicable Lebanese law and its limitations, individuals may request access to personal information, correction of inaccurate information, or object to certain processing activities where permitted. Requests can be made through the Ministry’s official communication channels; identity verification may be required. Statutory recordkeeping obligations may limit certain requests.
9. Cookies and External Services
Essential cookies may be needed for login sessions, secure navigation and electronic transactions. Disabling them may affect service functionality. Links to external sites or payment services may lead to platforms with separate privacy policies.
